Our mission is to inspire, motivate and equip people like you to care for others in the church. Our vision is to mobilize Christians in meaningful and substantial ways by empowering you to minister to the sick, injured, grieving, lonely and needy. The Pastoral “Community” Care of the congregation is made possible by faithful volunteers with the support of the Pastoral staff.
Prayer Chain - In James 5:16, God tells us that "the prayers of a righteous man are powerful and effective." The warriors on our telephone prayer chain devote themselves to daily prayer for those in need. To leave a prayer request or be part of this ministry contact x. 430.
Prayer Team - All brothers and sisters are invited to join us as we storm the gates of heaven with the needs of our church, out pastors, our community, our families and ourselves. Meets Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in Room 206. Led by Lydia Smith. Contact: Jane Kasel at x. 116 or jkasel@theshepherd.org
Monday Prayer Ministry - The Monday Prayer Ministry Team, led by the Holy Spirit, will pray in Jesus’ name for every person who comes to the Prayer Room and wants prayer according to the need. To come for prayer, please check-in with the church receptionist at the office. You will be given an ID tag and someone will come to get you. We meet every Monday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. No meetings on holidays. Contact: Nati Ortega at (818) 360-1328.
Hospital Visitation – If you or a family member or friend are in the hospital, call the church and one of our Pastors or trained volunteers will be sent to pray, read the Word of God, anoint with oil, and/or serve communion to refresh the hearts of the saints. If you want to join this ministry and receive free training, or if you are hospitalized, contact Laura Morus at x. 112 or lmorus@theshepherd.org.
Care Cards - Cards of written encouragement are sent to people all over the country who are ill or in need of kind words. To join this ministry, you just need a pen and a few minutes to write some postcards each week (supplies provided). Contact: Sharon Daly (818) 344-4490.
Oven Lovin’ - Bless those in time of need by cooking. Bake or buy a casserole, put on the date and cooking instructions, and drop it off at the church – and you are part of “Oven Lovin'.” It is something that doesn’t require a lot of time or money but definitely fulfills a need. If you are in need of a home cooked meal as you recover from illness or surgery, Oven Lovin’ wants to bless you. Contact: Laura Morus at x. 112 or lmorus@theshepherd.org.
