Special Events

The Special Events Team (SET) desires to reach out to Shepherd’s members and the community through creative events executed with excellence; to demonstrate Christ’s love in such a way that people are drawn closer to Him; and to outreach to those who otherwise may not be open to hearing the truth of Jesus Christ.

We desire to incorporate and fully utilize the gifts and talents of anyone willing to serve on the Special Events Team (SET). 1 Corinthians 12:12 “The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.”

Everyone is welcome! There are many great events in which you can get involved in!  UnDeck the Halls, Easter service, July 4th, Baptism at the Beach, Day of Prayer and Fasting, Deck the Halls, Conferences, Community Events, Evacuation Center and much, much more.  There is something for everyone: office support – decorating – planning – security – parking – ushering – hospitality – greeting – set construction – and more!  Please let us know your availability, to what capacity you are able and would like to serve and how you would like to use your talent within the ministry!

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT

Do you have computer skills?  Are you organized?  Help meet the administrative needs of this ministry.

VOLUNTEER CHECK IN

Due to the high volume of volunteers it takes to coordinate an event here at Shepherd, we need your help in checking them in and making sure that they have the tools that they need to report to their area of ministry.

DECORATING

Join the team who sets up all the beautiful decorations for events.

GREETING

Provide guests with a warm welcome as they arrive.  Also see “Guest Services” under Support Ministries.

HOSPITALITY

Help coordinate the supply of food, beverages, and other amenities for the guests.

PARKING

Guide guests as they enter and exit campus, pointing them in the right direction and keeping traffic flow moving smoothly.  Also see “Guest Services” under Support Ministries.

SECURITY

Be the eyes and ears for the guests and for the building(s).  Also see “Guest Services” under Support Ministries.

SET CONSTRUCTION & SPECIAL PROJECTS

We have a number of construction projects and repairs throughout the year.  Let us know your area of specialty!  Sign-up for special projects where your skills can be utilized.

SET UP and TEAR DOWN

There is often a need for help in setting up prior to events as well as tearing down after the completion of the events.    

USHERING

Provide guests with guidance and information as well as show them to their seats.  Also see “Guest Services” under Support Ministries.

GUEST SERVICES

Pertains to the weekend services held at the Porter Ranch Campus.  (See “Guest Services” under Support Ministries).  Many of these positions also apply to the Special Events Team as events arise throughout the year.
